TELEHEALTH

Can a Functional Capacity Assessment Be Completed via Telehealth?

Yes. Many Functional Capacity Assessments can be conducted via telehealth when clinically appropriate.

Telehealth allows Occupational Therapists to assess relevant functional abilities, interview participants and support people, review existing clinical information and gather evidence about everyday support needs.

  • Nationwide access to Occupational Therapists
  • No practitioner travel charges
  • Appointments from home or another suitable location
  • Greater scheduling flexibility
  • Access for regional and remote participants
  • Easier involvement of family members and support teams where appropriate

Is Telehealth Suitable for Everyone?

Not every FCA can be completed entirely online. Some participants may require face-to-face observation, additional assessment activities or further clinical evidence. The assessing Occupational Therapist will determine whether telehealth is suitable for the participant and the intended purpose of the assessment.
